Pune: An 18-year-old married girl was injured in a chemical attack by her ex-beau in Parvati Darshan area. The incident took place on Monday (November 23). The injured girl has been admitted to Sassoon Hospital for treatment. The boy has been arrested by police.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Abu Azhar Aiyaz Tamboli, a resident of Parvati. The injured girl has filed a complaint against Tamboli. Based on this complaint, Dattawadi police have registered FIR against Tamboli under section 326A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid etc) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to police, the girl was in a relationship with Tamboli before her marriage. She got married with another man recently and had come to her maternal house for Diwali festivities. While she was at her maternal house, Tamboli called her and asked to meet near the Bhamare school. The girl went to meet him.
Tamboli wanted to continue relationship with the girl, but she refused saying that she is now married and that he should forget her. Tamboli started abusing and arguing with her. After a while he threatened her and threw a chemical on her face. Tamboli then fled from the spot while the injured girl was admitted to hospital for treatment.
Dattawadi police were informed about the incident. A team of police personnel conducted searches and nabbed Tamboli. Police Sub Inspector Suryakant Saptale is investigating the case.
