Pune: Alandi police have booked members of Jalaram Housing Society in Alandi on charges of flouting Covid-19 lockdown norms by organising Dandiya, Garba and other cultural programs in the society premises. The incident took place on Tuesday (October 20) night between 9pm to 10pm in which 15 to 20 members of the society participated.
A FIR has been registered against Prafulla Dattatreya Malawade, Secretary of the society, Pratap Vaiju Shewalkar, President of the society and Mahadev Patil, Vice President of the society. They have charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Police Constable Machchindra Shende has filed a complaint against the society members in this regard.
According to police, prohibitory orders are in place and there is ban on gathering of five or more people in the city and district area. Despite these lockdown norms and rules in place, the society members flouted all guidelines and organised the public functions.
