Pune : Haveli police arrest absconding suspect wanted in bank cheating and forgery case

Pune: Haveli police have arrested a man who was absconding for three years in a case related to cheating and forgery of documents for obtaining loan of Rs 24 lakh from the TMB Bank at Nanded City in the outskirts of Pune city. Investigations revealed that Sameer has also duped Pune Peoples Cooperative Bank and Yantra Nirman Patsanstha to the tune of Rs 31 lakh using the same forged documents related to a land plot in Jambhulwadi.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Sameer Sanjay Mohite, a resident of Mohitewada, near Hatti Ganpati in Sadashiv Peth. He has been remanded to police custody for one day by the judicial magistrate (first class) court.

A FIR was registered against Sameer in 2017 at the Haveli police station. He was charged with forgery and duping the Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) situated at Nanded Phata by submitting fake documents related to a land plot as the guarantee asset to obtain a loan of Rs 24 lakh.

Sameer was nabbed by a team of policemen consisting of Police Inspector Sadashiv Shelar, Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Nam, Police Constables Ganesh Dhanve, Rajendra Mundhe, Deepak Gaikwad, Mahendra Chaudhary and Sushil Gabhane.

According to police, Sameer had submitted fake documents related to a land plot at Jambhulwadi at the TMB, Pune Peoples bank Perugate Branch and other banks to obtain loans. Police suspect that he might have duped other banks too. Police are now finding out the modus operandi and the means and methods used by Sameer to prepare those fake documents. Police are also on the lookout for the persons who helped Sameer in making those forged documents.
