Pune: The online draw for 2929 houses constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will be completed in the next 15 days. The PMC is constructing more than eight thousand flats in and around Pune city under this scheme for the needy people.
The central government has launched the PMAY scheme to ensure housing for all citizens by the end of year 2022. Under this scheme, any citizen who does not have his or her own house under the PMC jurisdiction can avail the benefit of purchasing a house built under the PMAY. The PMC had invited applications from citizens for the same. More than 50 thousand citizens had then applied for the scheme. The PMC, in the first phase, has decided to build about 8 thousand houses under this scheme.
The Pune Municipal Corporation, under the PMAY scheme, has started construction of houses at Survey Number 106 A in Hadapsar, Survey Number 57 in Kharadi and Survey Number 39 in Wadgaon Khurd. The construction of a housing scheme at Kharadi has been completed till the fifth floor. A sample flat has also been readied by the PMC in order to display it to the citizens willing to buy the houses in this scheme, said Rubal Agrawal, Additional Commissioner of PMC.
The houses constructed under the PMAY scheme will be handed over to citizens who had applied for it with the PMC and were found eligible for the scheme. The PMC had received around 20 thousand applications for the houses under this scheme. The PMC had scheduled the online draw of these houses in December 2019 but for unavoidable reasons had to postpone the event. Now this draw has been scheduled at the end of this month. Additional Commissioner Rubal Agrawal told media persons that the exact date for the draw will be announced soon after discussing it with Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.
