Pune students shine in CET2020, Sanika Gumaste, Anish Jagdale emerge toppers for PCM, PCB group

Pune: The state Common Entrance Test (CET) cell announced the results for the entrance exam conducted in the state for engineering, pharmacy and agriculture degree courses on Saturday (November 28) late night. Pune city-based students have topped the exams with Sanika Gumaste and Anish Jagdale emerging as toppers in PCM and PCB group respectively. All students can check their scorecard on mhtcet2020.mahaonline.gov.in website, the state CET cell has said.

The MHT CET exam was conducted this year in October due to the coronavirus outbreak. The results have been announced almost one month after the exam happened. More than 5.42 lakh students had registered for these exams and about 3.86 lakh students that is 71.27 per cent students actually appeared for the exams.

The exam was conducted in 36 districts including at 187 centres in the state and 10 locations outside the state. Most of the students who did not attempt the exams had said that they either opted out due to the Covid-19 outbreak in their areas or they reached the exam centre late due to the travel restrictions considering the coronavirus outbreak.

About 1.74 lakh students had appeared for the exam from the PCM group. Of these, 22 students have obtained 100 percentile. Sanika Gumaste has ranked first while Sachin Jog has ranked second in this group in the state. In the other 20 students, eight are from Mumbai suburbs, three from Kolhapur, two from Solapur and others from Nagpur, Thane, Wardha, Nagar, Yavatmal and Raigad districts.

About 2.11 lakh students had appeared for the exam from the PCB group. Of these 19 students have obtained 100 percentile. Anish Jagdale from Pune has been ranked first in this group. In the remaining students, three are from Nagpur and Latur each, two from Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Amravati and Aurangabad each and one from Palghar, Nanded, Sangli, Chandrapur each.
