Shirdi: Police detained Trupti Desai, President of Bhumata Brigade, at Supe Toll plaza on Pune-Ahmednagar road,(Trupti Desai) about 100 km before Shirdi.
Police have detained Trupti Desai and his supporters 100 km from Shirdi. This time there was a scuffle between Trupti Desai supporters and the police.
“We are fighting for our rights. Today is Human Rights Day and, unfortunately, we are being deprived of our freedom of expression on the same day,” Desai said.
“If the police have issued a notice to me in Shirdi as per the order of the Nagar Panchayat, I am ready to discuss with the police. I should stop here and let my colleagues go to Shirdi,” she added
Police had earlier made preparations to stop Trupti Desai’s convoy. For security reasons, a large contingent of police was deployed at the toll plaza since morning to stop Trupti Desai at the Supe toll plaza.
Earlier, Trupti Desai had warned the Shirdi Sanstha of entering Shirdi and removing the placard which instructed the devotees to wear “Indian attire” while visiting the temple
