Pune: Wakad police have booked one Avinash Pande on charges of posting obscene video of a minor boy and girl on his Instagram account. Primary investigations revealed that Pande is a resident of Goldfinger Avenir society in Wakad near Hinjawadi Bridge.
Pande has been booked under section 67B (punishment for publishing or transmitting of material depicting children in sexually explicit actin electronic form) of the Information Technology Act and section 14 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Assistant Police Inspector Mahesh Swami of Wakad police station has registered the FIR against Pande.
API Swami said, “The obscene video has been posted by the suspect Pande twice on social media accounts. Pande posted the video on his Instagram account on August 14, 2019 at 5.24pm. After this, the social media platform company informed the Indian authorities about the obscene video posted by the Indian user.”
“The user profile link and other technical details were shared with the National Crime Records Bureau which later transferred the information to state and district police officials. The name, phone number and postal address of the suspect was ascertained by police and then a FIR was registered against him,” he added.
Wakad police said the suspect will be arrested soon.
