Avoid ‘these’ food items to keep your Liver healthy

Pune: The liver secretes digestive juices which helps body organs to digest food and eliminate waste outside the body. It is a powerhouse of an organ. It performs a variety of essential tasks, ranging from producing proteins, cholesterol and bile to storing vitamins, minerals and even carbohydrates. It also breaks down toxins like alcohol, medications and natural byproducts of metabolism. Keeping your liver in good shape is important for maintaining health. It is very important for the liver to work properly to stay away from critical conditions and diseases. The liver related problems have started increasing due to wrong eating habits and changing lifestyle. Here are few food items that are to be avoided to keep the liver healthy and fit. Consumption of these things increases the risk of liver related diseases.

· Avoid alcohol consumption

Consumption of alcohol is harmful to health. It causes adverse effects on health. It can cause ulcer in the liver which will eventually put pressure on the heart or lead to diabetes. It can also make you stomach bloat as there will be a swelling on your liver due excess consumption of it.

· Avoid overdose of medicines

Medicines are anyhow never good for the body as it becomes dependent on it. Excessive consumption of drugs also poses a risk of liver related problems. Do not take medicine without doctor’s advice. Be sure to consult a doctor before taking any medicine.

· Avoid excessive intake of raisins

Raisins are beneficial for health, but raisins should be consumed in limited quantities. Consumption of raisins in large quantities increases the risk of liver problems. Raisins have few chemical combinations which are not good for the liver if eaten in excess.

· Avoid Cheese burger

Cheese burgers should be avoided. Consumption of cheese burgers can lead to liver related problems. The ingredients used to make burgers are fatty in nature which is not good for the liver. According to the American Heart Association, animal fat present in cheese can damage the liver. Avoid cheesy burgers to keep the liver healthy and fit.
