Jackfruit is effective in controlling diabetes, know ‘here’ how

New Delhi: Jackfruit is a fruit which can also be eaten as a vegetable. It is mostly found in South-Asia including India. It is a national fruit of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Whereas in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, India, it has got status of state fruit. It is cultivated in many states of the country.

Jackfruit, weight wise is the world’s largest fruit. One fruit weighs about 20 kg. The fruit is tasty for taste buds and also have medicinal values. It has medicinal properties which are effective for treatment of many diseases, especially for the diabetes.

Several researchers have revealed that eating jackfruit can prove beneficial for diabetic patients. If you are a diabetic patient, then add jackfruit to your diet.

According to a research by the Journal of Medical and Bio-engineering, jackfruit is used as a medicine in Indonesia. It has properties of antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti inflammatory and antihelminthics (a group of antiparasitic drugs, which help to eject parasitic worms from the body).

Jackfruit may be able to prevent the glycation of hemoglobin in diabetic conditions. This is due to the presence of lycopene, acid-carotene, and ascorbic acid in jackfruit. This research suggests that jackfruit acts as a diabetic agent that can reduce glycated hemoglobin levels (HbA1c). Doctors also recommend diabetic patients to eat jackfruit.
