Mumbai : Government to appoint 1000 plus fresh medical doctors ahead of rapid increase in coronavirus positive cases. Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh said on Thursday, over 1,000 medical students who would pass out from college this year would be posted in hospitals treating COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra.
According to Deshmukh, “The state government will get 1,204 bonded candidates from various disciplines of medical education and they will be posted as per their specialization and requirement at the institutes treating COVID-19 patients”.
Here “Bonded” candidates means contract based, a contract in which certain period will be mention for which it has to serve in government hospitals after passing out from medical colleges.
These fresh graduate may be posted as a resident doctors or medical officers based in their qualification. The minister added, “there is demand from district collectors across the state for additional medical staff and senior officials’.
The government will also appoint 444 specialists as senior resident doctors. The recruitment will be done by the Public Health Department and will provide a remuneration of Rs 1 lakh per month. The results of final year exams of medical courses are awaited as mentioned in statement..
According to data from the public health department, 68 per cent vacancy for class I medical officers, including specialist doctors, and 14 per cent vacancy for medical officers across the state is available.
Maharashtra crossed a million Covid-19 cases last week, with 23,000 to 25,000 new cases and around 400 deaths being reported every day. The total tally of India makes 5,118,253 cases. The global cases of coronavirus now stands at 30,024,106. While 21,776,977 have recovered, 944,643 have died so far.
