Pune: Dr Chandrakant Rawal retired from the post of Principal at Deccan Education Society’s Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC). Dr Rawal was felicitated at the hands of BMCC’s former Principal Prof Dr Aniruddh Deshpande on Thursday (December 31) during his farewell ceremony.

DES Governing Body and Council Chairman Dr Sharad Kunte, Vice Chairman Mahesh Athawale, Secretary Prof Dhananjay Kulkarni, Vice Principal Dr Suresh Waghmare and others were present on the occasion.

Dr Deshpande said, “BMCC has a legacy of 75 years and has become a centre for personality development for students. Dr Rawal has exemplary educational and administrative leadership qualities on the basis of which he served the instiution for last 10 years.”

Dr Kunte said, “We will utilise the experience of popular professors like Dr Rawal to implement the new education policies for our primary schools to higher education institutes of DES along with nurturing the alumni network.”

Dr Rawal said, “The post of principal at BMCC was a challenging position and an opportunity for me. Whatever good things were achieved during my tenure were due to the team work of management, administration, teaching and non-teaching staff and students.”

“The coming days are challenging from the educational aspect of students. Students may not get financial aid from governments, vacant posts may not get filled. There is competition from local to global level. New education policies should be implemented in order to deliver instant and innovative services to students. Multi-disciplinary courses and use of technology should be encouraged.”

Prof Bharati Pawar gave the vote of thanks.
