Road Accident Victims to be given cashless treatment upto 2.5 lakhs

New Delhi: A new scheme is under process to provide free treatment upto 2.5 lakhs per road accident victims. This scheme will be connected to Toll tax.

‘The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has prepared a blueprint for implementing the scheme of cashless treatment of motor accident victims as contemplated under the MV Act, 2019 and the hit and run case’, the ministry said in a statement.

The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund will be set up and it will work as the National Health Authority being the nodal agency. The government will transfer 2000 for the funds. The toll changes will increase from september.

In 2019-20, 30 thousand crores were earned from 563 toll plaza in the country. Government is expecting to increase the total earnings upto 1 lakh crores in 5 years. Currently, there are 66 toll plaza in UP, 51 in Maharashtra and many more.
