Classes for 10th, 12th will resume from November 23, Informs Education Minister

Mumbai : After Diwali, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the green light to start colleges and educational institutions in the country from November 16, now it is planning to start schools in the state from November 23, said School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad.

After unlock, means of transportation, travel arrangements, theaters, cinemas, markets have been started in the state. Against this backdrop, the Minister of Education said that she intends to start classes IX to XII in the secondary school, especially in the tenth and twelfth classes. Although schools are currently closed, education continues online. After reviewing the situation in Corona in the state, guidelines have been prepared for starting schools from November 23. Guidelines have been sent to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for approval. The schools will be started after the final approval of the Chief Minister after seeing the situation of Corona in the state, informed Varsha Gaikwad.

Examinations will be announced by the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in view of the academic interests of the students regarding the examination schedule of 10th and 12th standard. Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the government would take care of the health of the students as well as the teachers and take care of the teaching and learning process and conduct the examinations.

The government is trying to start the school by following the instructions of the central and state governments. She also informed that the work of the school will be done only with the permission of the parents and by taking health measures.

Diwali holiday has been extended from 5 days to 14 days by the school education department. This will give a 14-day break to students’ online learning.

This decision of Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad was welcomed by teachers, parents and students.

According to the circular dated November 5, 2020, the holiday was given from November 12 to 16. However, after the students, teachers and parents expressed their displeasure, the Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has now announced a 14-day holiday from November 7 to 20.
