Ambala: ‘France supports India’s candidacy for the UN Security Council’, said French Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly at Rafale induction ceremony on Ambala Air Force station.

Rafale induction ceremony, ‘Sarva Dharma Puja’ was attended and ingaurated by Defence Minster Rajnath Singh and its French counterpart Florence Parly.

India will join the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2021.

Earlier, France have also expressed “strong support” for India and the other G4 countries in their bid for a permanent seat in a reformed UN Security Council.

India has been at the forefront of the years-long efforts to reform the Security Council, saying it rightly deserves a place as a permanent member of the Council, which in its current form does not represent the geo-political realities of the 21st century

Florence Parly also said France is fully committed to ‘Make in India’ initiative, as well as, to the further integration of the Indian manufacturers in its global supply chain, reports ANI.

The Rafale jets were given a water cannon salute at the induction ceremony after stunning air maneuvers were performed by the Rafale, Su-30 and Jaguars.

In September 2016, India and France had signed a deal for 36 Rafale fighter jets. At ₹60,000 crore it is the largest-ever defence deal signed by India.
