Naxalites kill their own commander in Bijapur, last rites performed by family

Bijapur: On Thursday night in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh naxalites killed their own commander. Thereafter his body was handed over to his family. The family members also performed the last rites of the dead body in Grihagram. However, the casualty of the Naxalite commander has not been officially confirmed yet. The incident took place in Gangalur police station area.

According to the reports, Naxalite leader Vizza Modium alias Badru (34) was the DVC in charge of the Gangalur Area Committee. Naxalites killed him late Thursday night. A Naxalite leader has been killed in the jungles of Etawar between Gangalur and Kirandul. However, the reason behind this murder is not yet known.

After this, Naxalite commander Vizza was cremated in his home village Mankeli. Naxalites are continuously active in Bijapur and are killing villagers on suspicion of police informer. However, it is not known why they have killed their own commander.

8 people including two policemen killed in a month

In Bijapur, Naxalites have killed 8 people including 2 policemen in the two days of September and October. These include the Naxalite commander as well. Assistant Sub Inspector Nagaiya Korsa, who was abducted by Naxalites, was killed on 31 August. After this, on September 18, CAF killed the jawan. Then the former soldier was kidnapped and killed.

On the pretext of being informers, many villagers are being killed. To combat the attacks of naxalites , the Chhattisgarh government is set to open eight new police camps by the end of this year . According to the government, the camps will come up in Dantewada, Kondagaon, Bijapur and Sukma districts to strengthen its hold in the Maoist strongholds, even as it faces protests against the move.

These are part of the 15 police camps that the government has planned to set up this year. The first seven of these were established in the districts named, apart from Narayanpur, before the Covid-19 outbreak. Five more such camps will come up by March 2021.
