Palghar : A pregnant woman traveling on the Bandra-Ghazipur Express has given birth to a baby in a running train. The delivery took place in the S12 coach of the Bandra-Ghazipur down train. Gudiya Vishwakarma is the name of the woman who gave birth to the baby. Both the baby and the infant were safe and sound and were discharged on Monday (November 2).

Rajesh Vishwakarma, along with his pregnant wife Gudiya and five-year-old daughter, had left for his hometown in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday (November 1) night on a Covid special train from Bandra-Ghazipur. Gudiya started having labor pains as soon as she reached Virar station after leaving Bandra. When Gudiya Vishwakarma started having pain, she went straight to the toilet of the train and tried to give birth to the baby. Rajesh Vishwakarma informed TTE about this. He then called the control room and informed about it. The woman gave birth on the way to Palghar station. She gave birth to a cute baby boy.

After the Western Railway administration came to know about the matter, they decided to stop the train at Palghar and the train stopped at Palghar station around 12.30 pm.

Earlier, the Palghar railway station administration had summoned pediatricians and gynecologists. Dr. Rajendra Chavan of Vaishali Nursing Home completed the postnatal procedure for the baby in the train and admitted the baby along with the woman to his hospital. The ambulance was ready at this time. Dr. Rajendra Chavan, showing generosity, did all the further treatment at his hospital without taking a single rupee from the woman.

This is the first delivery on the train since the lockdown.
