Pune No adverse impact on vaccination drive, clarifies CM Uddhav Thackeray after visiting Serum Institute

Pune: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray visited the Serum Institute of India on Friday (January 22) and clarified that the fire incident will have no adverse impact on the COVISHIELD vaccination drive.

CM Thackeray addressed the media in presence of SII Chairman Cyrus Poonawalla and CEO Adar Poonawalla.

Thackeray said, “When the news about the fire broke, everybody missed their heartbeats. The world is still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic and COVISHIELD is the ray of hope for all of us. Fortunately, the production unit and storage facility of this COVISHIELD vaccine was not affected in the fire incident.”

“The first two floors of the building were in use and occupied. Everybody was concerned about the adverse impact of this fire incident on the production of COVISHIELD. But I have been informed and assured by Cyrus and Adar Poonawalla that this fire incident will not have any adverse impact on the vaccination drive,” Thackeray added.
