Mumbai : The NCB has arrested a total of 10 people so far after the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. The list also includes actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik Chakraborty. Rhea was arrested on Tuesday, following which a local magistrate of Mumbai dismissed Rhea’s bail and ordered her to be sent to judicial custody for 14 days late on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she was sent to Byculla Jail in Mumbai.
On Wednesday, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde filed a bail petition in the sessions court. Which will be decided on Thursday. Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish said, “The bail plea of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik Chakraborty will be heard on September 10 in Mumbai’s special court.”
The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Rhea Chakraborty on Tuesday after being questioned for three days in connection with drug related charges in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. NCB Deputy Director K.K. P.S. Malhotra had told, Rhea has been arrested.
The process of informing her family about this has been completed. Prior to Rhea, NCB arrested actress’s brother Shouvik Chakraborty and Sushant’s manager Samuel Miranda on charges of supplying narcotics.
Significantly, this drug angle is also related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. On 14 June 2020, Sushant’s body was found in a flat in Bandra. Initially, this case was linked to nepotism as suicide but later several different angles also came to light in this case and the investigation reached the CBI via Bihar Police. Currently, along with NCB, CBI and ED are also investigating the Sushant case.
