Gujarat : Bhavnagar farmer invents 'Jugaad bike', 80% cheaper and easier than tractors

Bhavnagar : Farming, which was once done with indigenous methods, is now slowly becoming modern. While this modern farming is expensive for farmers, they are inventing new tools to make farming cheaper. Jayesh Makwana, a farmer from Sidsar village in Bhavnagar, has made a jugaad bike for this. The farmer has done this to do many post-sowing operations in the field. This jugaad bike, which can be used instinctively in various works, is 80% cheaper and easier than tools like a bike tractor or Sanedo (mini tractor).

A farmer from Sidsar village in Bhavnagar has resourcefully invented a Jugaad electric plow for just Rs 26,000. Rs. This jugaad bike costs only Rs 35 against Rs 300. The farmer has made this device by fitting the differential gear box of the car. For the farmers who cannot afford the cost of oxen, a pair of trolleys can be used on the back of this jugaad bike.

This jugaad bike can be used instinctively in various works. Not only that, it is 80 percent cheaper and easier than equipment like a tractor or Sanedo (mini tractor). A tractor costs around Rs 250 to Rs 300. This Jugaad bike costs only Rs 30 to 35 per Bigha. The bike is fitted with a car differential gearbox, which greatly increases the strength.

In this regard, Jayeshbhai said that in general, farming is done by oxen, tractors or mini tractors. Nowadays, keeping a pair of permanent oxen in one’s own house is not affordable for an ordinary farmer. Keep oxen, so time is running out to take care of them.

Jayeshbhai further said, “Tractors are similar to oxen. Farmers hire tractors and do sowing work. In small villages, only a few farmers have oxen or tractors. So the farmers who hire tractors are forced to cultivate according to the time and convenience of the owners of the tractors or oxen. I have found the solution to all these things and based on my learning, I have made this jugaad bike.”

According to Jayeshbhai, “I have fitted the car differential and gearbox in my old Discover bike. It cost me Rs 30,000 to make this jugaad bike. This jugaad bike can be used for various farming purposes including weeding. This jugaad bike can also be used in all types of soil. It is easy to operate. This Jugaad bike is made at a cost of only Rs. 30,000 and it can be taken from the farm to the home or from home to the farm.”

According to the farmer, “Four or five days after the onset of rains in the rainy season, weeding etc. in the fields is done by sati or tractor. But weeding can be done even after two days by this jugaad bike. In addition, due to the setting placed in this bike, it can operate on any type of ground according to its capacity. Jugaad bikes can be used easily in soft soils and it also consumes less fuel. Jugaad bikes can be used in hard soils too, but fuel consumption is higher compared to soft soils.”
