India Will Get COVID-19 Vaccine In March : Serum Institute

Pune : The entire world, which has been hit by the coronavirus epidemic is eagerly waiting for a vaccine or effective medicine against the virus. Amid this, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, Serum Institute of India has given a relief news. The company says that the country may get the vaccine by March.

Dr. Suresh Jadhav, executive director of Serum Institute of India has clarified that India may get the vaccine of Covid-19 by March 2021. Talking to a newspaper, he said that research on Covid-19 vaccine in India is going on very fast. Phase-3 trials of two vaccine candidates are underway in the country and one is in Phase-2 and further research and development is underway on vaccine candidates in India.

At the same time, the Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan had said that we are expecting that the country will get the vaccine from more than one source early next year. Our experts are preparing a strategy for planning how to start the delivery of vaccines in the country.

The Serum Institute is working on a vaccine for the coronavirus – including potentially mass production of  AstraZeneca-Oxford University vaccine. Vaccines for this are being developed and sent for testing globally.

Dr. Soumya Swaminath, Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization, said that ‘Clinical trials of any vaccine fluctuate. She also said that Covid-19 vaccine should be ready by the third month of next year. By January 2021 we will be able to see its results and hope to have the vaccine ready to fight SARS-CoV-2 by next year’s quarter.’
