Mumbai: In a huge embarrassment, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was reportedly barred from boarding a state government aircraft to fly to Dehradun and then onto Mussoorie for an official function, airport sources said here on Thursday.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. at Mumbai Airport when the Governor and his aide reached to take the state government aircraft to Dehradun. However, there he was reportedly informed that there was no permission for him to take the flight, though the reasons are not clear.

Unfazed, Koshyari, who hails from Uttarakhand, and his aides immediately booked a scheduled commercial flight to Dehradun which is expected to depart around noon. Despite repeated attempts by IANS, Raj Bhavan and government officials remained incommunicado, but it is learnt that the Governor is scheduled to address an official ceremony at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie on Friday.

With the recent development, it seems that all is not well between Koshiyari and Maha Vikas Aghadi government headed by Uddhav Thackeray. In the past also there were bitter exchanges of words between the state government and the governor over several issues. Over the delay in appointment of 12 members approved by the state cabinet for the legislative council through the governor quota, the government is likely to move the court against Koshiyari, informed sources. The cabinet had given names in November last year, however, Koshiyari is yet to take action on it.

Even the Nationalist Congress Party Supremo Sharad Pawar had in the past slammed the governor over delay in appointing MLCs.
