Mumbai: Amit Chandole, close friend of Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. Sarnaik’s son Vihang has also been summoned for questioning by the ED officials on Thursday (November 26).
Sources said, Chandole’s arrest is the first arrest and action taken by the ED in an alleged scam of Rs 175 crore involving the Top Group company. The MMRDA has the contract of providing security guards in Mumbai. A private company belonging to the Top Group of Chandole has a sub-contract of providing these security guards. Officials said that the action taken by ED is related to this contract and it is alleged that Rs 175 crore have been siphoned off.

Important documents were seized in the raids conducted by the ED in Thane related to this scam. The documents revealed name of Chandole after which he was questioned for 12 hours by the ED. Chandole was then arrested by the ED officials.
Chandole is the childhood friend of MLA Sarnaik. Chandole shifted from Dombivali to Thane for business purpose and the duo started their business under Vihang Group of Companies. Chandole is the Director of this group. Apart from this, Chandole and Sarnaik have partnership in several other projects. Chandole is the crucial link between Top Security company and Vihang Group of Companies and hence ED has arrested him.
