Pune: Sinhagad Fort sees more than thousand tourists within 48 hours of reopening

Pune: Sinhgad Fort opened up for tourists on Tuesday (December 8) and saw 1000 tourists visit the historical site. By 5 pm on Tuesday, there were 147 two wheelers and 63 cars present in the fort premises. Forest area officer Deepak Pawar has urged hoteliers to adhere to Covid-19 protocols(Sinhagad Fort ) and the general public to wear masks and use sanitizer while they stay on the fort.

Pandit Yadav, a hotelier, said, “I came in the morning and cleaned the whole place. If the fort had been opened during the Diwali holiday, we would have had a good business as the number of tourists decline after January 26.
Lakshman Mandale, another hotel owner said, “It was difficult to live in the lockdown for nine months as there was no source of income in this period. Hence, even though the fort has opened I have got all things on loan. I cleaned the whole place the first thing in the morning. Now, I am waiting for customers”.
Ganesh Gofane, a juice, water, peanuts, cucumber seller on the fort said, “The news of the opening of the fort was sudden. And since today was Bharat Bandh, markets were closed. Hence, I did not get to buy berries.
Tourists Ajit Malusare had brought his wife and children along with him. He said, “For a few months I wanted to go out in the open air. And I was eagerly waiting for Sinhgad Fort to open for tourists. We heard that the fort had started this morning and we left immediately. We were happy to come to the fort”.
