Mumbai : Jewellery brand Tanishq has removed one of its advertisements on social media following sharp criticism and accusations of love jihad and fake secularism. This move of the company also sparked debate on social media in the same way as the discussion had intensified during the release of Ekatvam’s advertisement last week. The 43-second ad depicts a pregnant woman going to a ceremony with her mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law is shown in a salwar kurta and the woman in a bindi and saree.

The woman says – Mom, you do not follow this custom. The mother-in-law says that the custom of keeping daughters happy is in every household. The scene depicting the joint family depicts a woman in a hijab, some women with saris and men with caps on their heads. Written in the title of the advertisement on YouTube, she is married into a family who treat her like their daughter. For their pleasure, they also participate in programs outside their traditions. It is a beautiful adjustment of two religions, tradition and culture.

As soon as the advertisement was released, the protest started on social media and a large number of people demanded a ban on it. People also threatened to boycott Tata products. In view of the protests, Tanishq first closed the comments and likes / dislikes of this video on YouTube and removed the advertisement video on Tuesday. However, the company has not given any reason for the removal of the video. After the advertisement was removed, a new debate started. In this, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, writer Chetan Bhagat and actress Swara Bhaskar attacked the trollers.
