New Delhi: Actor and Trinamool Congress’s Lok Sabha MP Nusrat Jahan has slammed video dating app, FancyU, for using her photo “without consent”. She said, ‘ she will take legal action against the wrongly used photo’.

Jahan tweeted in bengali about it on Monday – complained about the app after a user pointed out that her photo has been used by the app without her permission.

“This is totally unacceptable — using pictures without consent,” she wrote, adding, “I am ready to take this up legally”.

She tagged the cyber cell of Kolkata Police and Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma, requesting them to look into the matter. The joint commissioner, crime, Kolkata, immediately took cognisance of the matter and replied that the issue is being investigated.

This was first noticed by a citizen Bhaswati, who tagged Jahan and brought the matter to her notice, wrote: “The face of an MP-heroine is being used in a video chat app, without her permission. How is that possible?”

The FancyU app is video dating app which allows user to video chat with strangers they connect with globally. In its recent Advertising campaign, app designed a poster in which they used Jahan’s photo with a caption that read — ‘Make new friends sitting at home during lockdown’.
