Pune Bird Flu Scare  Citizens panic after two dead crows spotted near Babajan Dargah in Camp

Pune: Spotting of two dead crows at the Ravindranath Tagore School near Babajan Dargah in Pune Cantonment area on Wednesday has caused panic among citizens. Citizens feared that this may be the first case of bird flu deaths in the city, however officials have not made any statement regarding this so far.

The health workers cleared the site on Thursday (January 14) morning, a day after citizens tried to alert the Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune Cantonment Board officials.

Social activist Vikas Bhambure tried reaching out to toll free number provided by the Disease Investigation department of the Animal Husbandry Commissioner Office for grievance redress regarding bird flu.

Bhambure told media persons that he did not receive a prompt response from the department and that the officials asked him to contact the Pune Municipal Corporation officials.

Meanwhile, 13 poultry birds and nine crows were found dead on January 12 and 13 in Daund, Mulshi, Khed and Haveli areas of Pune district. The samples are under investigation and yet to conclusively prove that the deaths were due to bird flu or New castle disease.
