Pune: The Pune City Traffic Police have banned plying of buses and four wheelers on the Shivaji road stretch near Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple from 7am on January 1. The decision has been taken in view of the crowding that would take place on the new year morning by devotees.
Four wheelers including cars and all kind of buses coming from S G Barve Chowk near Modern Café and heading towards Swargate will be diverted via Jangli Maharaj Road. These vehicles will have to go up to Khandoji Baba chowk, then take left turn and via Lakdi bridge, Tilak Chowk near Alka Talkies and Tilak road, they can reach to Swargate.
Vehicles coming from S G Barve chowk and heading towards the Pune Municipal Corporation building will have to go via Jangli Maharaj road. These vehicles will have to go up to Zanshi Rani Chowk, take a left turn and head straight towards PMC building.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rahul Shrirame also informed that the signals at certain junctions will remain functional till 1am on December 31 and January 1 night. There are 30 such important junctions.
