Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be conducting undergraduate and postgraduate examinations from March 15. The examination for the second and the final year will be held from March 15 and that of the first year will commence from March 30. All exams will be conducted online.

The decision was taken at the Pune University’s Board of Examination meeting held on Tuesday.

To avoid malpractices during the exams, the full proctored mode will be used. Students who try to cheat or misbehave during the exam will be issued five warnings, after which the exam will close automatically.

Proctored exams are timed exams that you take while proctoring software monitors your computer’s desktop, webcam video and audio. This reduces the chances of cheating or any kind of malpractices during exam.

Director of the Board of Examinations and Assessment, Dr Mahesh Kakade said that a committee has been formed to evaluate the circumstances to conduct examinations. “Considering the convenience of the students and the college, the committee will submit a report in 2-3 days whether to conduct exams at the college centre or on the student’s personal devices,” he said.

He further added that college labs will be used to check the answer sheets of final year students.

All examinations, except for the final year of undergraduate and postgraduate degree will be conducted on a multiple-choice basis. The examination will be of 50 marks and students will get an hour to complete it.

For final year students, the examination will be of 70 marks and the time given will be one hour and half. Out of the 70 marks, 50 marks will be multiple choice questions (MCQs) while 20 marks will be for descriptive questions. The answer to each question must be within 30 words.
