Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to not deploy any flying squad for inspection during the offline examinations being conducted for final year students. This decision will be affecting more than 50 thousand students who are appearing for the final year exams this year amidst the Covid-19 outbreak situation in the state.

Pune University has instructed colleges to appoint supervisors from their institutes itself instead of the flying squads. The SPPU has colleges affiliated to it from the Pune, Nashik and Nagar districts. The SPPU has decided to conduct examinations in offline and online mode for the final year students. Around 1.90 lakh students have opted for online mode while 50 thousand students have chosen the offline mode for appearing for the exam.

The SPPU usually deploys flying squads for inspection at the examination centres to prevent any malpractices like copy and to take action against the errant centres. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak and lesser number of students appearing for examinations in offline mode, the SPPU has decided to not deploy the flying squads.

This year the exams are scheduled from October 12. The SPPU has instructed institutes to appoint their own supervisors to prevent copy and other malpractices at the exam centres. The SPPU has finalised examination centres in about 115 colleges in the three districts of Pune, Nashik and Nagar. The examination board has appealed to all colleges to cooperate and maintain the sanctity of the examinations in absence of any external supervision.
