WHO Chief says thank you to PM Modi after he assures to help World in fighting COVID-19

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged at the United Nations on Saturday that his country’s vaccine production capacity would be made available globally to fight the COVID-19 crisis. In response to this, WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has shown his gratitude towards his move.

In a tweet, he said- Thank you for your commitment to solidarity Prime Minister. Only together, by mobilizing our forces and resources jointly for the common good, can we end the COVID19 pandemic.

Modi in a pre-recorded speech to the U.N. General Assembly, said- “As the largest vaccine-producing country of the world, I want to give one more assurance to the global community today”. “India’s vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used to help all humanity in fighting this crisis.”

Modi pointed out,’India is moving ahead with Phase 3 clinical trials – the large-scale trials are considered. It would help all countries enhance their cold chain and storage capacities for the delivery of vaccines. India, the world’s second most populous country after China, has recorded more than 5.8 million cases of COVID-19, second leaving Brazil behind and in front USA.

Its death toll as of this week was more than 90,000 and it has consistently reported the highest tally of daily cases. However, the recovery rate is faster when it comes to India.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is an Ethiopian biologist, public health researcher and official who has served since 2017 as Director-General of the World Health Organization.
