Pune: Sensitive locations on high alert, Police appeal citizens to not believe in rumours

Pune: The Pune City Police have said that they have adequate security measures in place and an alert has been issued in the city on the backdrop of the low-intensity explosion that was reported outside the Israel embassy in New Delhi on Friday (January 29) evening. Police have also appealed to citizens to not believe and not spread any rumours.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has also issued a statement saying that he has taken a stock of the situation in the state. “I have instructed Director General of Police to take necessary precautionary and safety measures in Pune, Mumbai and other parts of the state.”

“Citizens should also report to police if they spot any suspicious item in their vicinity, Pawar has appealed.

Pune city has the Chabad House in Koregaon Park, Lal Deval (Ohel David Synagogue) in Camp and Succath Shelmo Synagogue in Rasta Peth area which is frequented by the Jewish and Israeli community.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Mitesh Gatte said, “All police personnel posted at all sensitive locations within the city have been asked to stay alert.”
